Geoffrey H. Short es un artista y
fotógrafo neozelandés que ha trabajado como fotógrafo documental y fotógrafo,
en cine y televisión.
Short menciona que su serie “Towards
Another (Big Bang) Theory” esta intencionada a explorar la relación entre el
terror, lo sorprendente, lo bello y lo sublime. El artista contrató expertos en
efectos especiales para producir las explosiones, utilizando mezclas de
combustibles fósiles y pólvora para causar un mínimo daño al ambiente. La
captura de estas impactantes explosiones generan en el espectador una sensación
de asombro y curiosidad, en parte por el realismo y estética de las mismas.
Actualmente es director de
PhotoForum Inc. Su trabajo ha sido incluido en exhibiciones como reGeneration2:
Tomorrow’s Photographers Today. En el año 2010 fue nominado para el Lacoste
Elysée Premio a la Fotografía y fue finalista en Photolucida: Critical Mass
2011. En el año 2013 la serie “Towards Another (Big Bang) Theory” fue exhibida como parte de la muestra de Geográfica en Fototropía.

Short
mentions that his series "Towards Another (Big Bang) Theory" is
focused to explore the relationship between the terror, the surprising, the
beautiful and the sublime. The artist hired experts in special effects to
produce the explosions, using mixtures of fossil fuels and gunpowder to cause
minimal damage to the environment. The capture of these shocking explosions
generates a sense of wonder and curiosity in the viewer, partly by the realism
and beauty of them.
He
is currently director of PhotoForum
Inc. His work has been included in exhibitions as
reGeneration2: Tomorrow's Photographers Today. In 2010 he was nominated for the
Lacoste Elysée Photography Prize and was a finalist in Photolucida: Critical
Mass 2011. In 2013 the series "Towards Another (Big Bang) Theory" was part of the exhibition Geográfica of Fototropía
